First Meetings

Have been online since 1997.  Decided back then to try to hook up with some penpals.  I looked in AOL's directory for my birthtown of Glasgow, KY and picked two names.  One did not respond and one did.  The one, Colitta turned out to be connected in a peculiar fashion to my mother.  She attended school with the son of my mother's best friend, Evelyn Decker.  We corresponded for 1-3 years before our first meeting.   We still keep in touch - although not as frequently as we used to.  Was really neat when I met her grandfather and he remembered an amusing occurence involving my grandmother and grandfather.   The only other webpal that has endured the years is my friendship with a lady from Germany named Elisabeth.  We have talked numerous times about finally getting together - but nothing ever seemed to work out.  We are finally making plans for this March - yay!  She has even viewed at least one of our webcasts for our church and wants to attend one of our services.  Looking forward to meeting her in SF and driving back to our area for her stay.  I think that this is the coolest thing for me since I went to the Philippines in 1982/83.  I even got to go to Tokyo then for a brief hotel stay during our layover.  So far, I have been in Seoul, Korea, Honolulu, Tokyo, the Philippines, as far as traveling outside the U.S.  All this during the Philippines trip.   Haven't traveled much in the last few years.  Only back and forth between home and Indiana or Kentucky (and once Tennessee).  My mobility issues have made traveling more difficult lately - would like to see my sons this year though.  Keep me in prayer that God makes a way.  Anyway, back to Elisabeth's visit - can't wait.  Will have to wait and see how I do using a walker at the airport.  Been having more problems since the last storm system moved in with my FMS, and my left knee is acting weird.   Will post more later after our meeting.  Very cool.
